Hi! As you probably can notice, this website has not been kept up for some time now. After moving to Ohio last year and becoming enrolled in a Christian school, I no longer had the time to do the research and write the updates which would have been necessary to continue making this site a quality blog.

I have continued my work leading the Young Christian Leaders' Alliance. God has been extremely gracious to us as our ministry still meets roadblocks, yet still overcomes them through Him.

To keep up to date with our organization, the best way is to register as an online member at our main page, www.YCLAlliance.org. Read and contribute to our new cooperative blog, view our monthly newsletter, and interact with likeminded young believers with a heart for Biblical reformation.

Getting involved in the YCLA is now much easier than ever. You can participate in Operation Pi - a project creating/identifying prayer groups in schools, BEAMS - a leadership training outreach, or the development of Answers Clubs - a vision to create clubs showing the truth of the Biblical perspective on Creation. You can host church events like Lead the Lemon. You can even become a full voting member from nearly anywhere, through a simple process!

As you view this site, give praise to the Creator of it all. Enjoy the history, philosophy, and logical ramblings. Have fun discovering the beginnings of the YCLA. And, it might be good to take some things with a grain of salt; while I stand behind all the main ideas of these writings, I have also learned a lot since I posted many of them.

Most importantly, please continue to pray for our ministry and all others which uphold the Light and support the Worldviews Revolution in people's hearts and minds.

Sign the petition against revisionist history!

I received the following note in an email from Heather Osborne, the leader of the Marion County [Florida] Teenage Republicans. This is an easy (and great!) issue to take action on, so please do so!

Dear friend,

A group of young Americans here in Marion County are concerned about the opening of the new Visitor Center in Washington D.C. scheduled to open in December and have begun to collect signatures for a petition to Congress. Designers of this $621 million "Shrine to Political Correctness" have deliberately omitted historical and/or religious aspects and facts about America's heritage. By this bold yet somewhat subtle action, certain Congress members are attacking not only historical truth and accuracy but also are attempting to stifle public religious influence.

Fortunately, we live in a country where "We the People" have a voice. If you are 18 years or older, please click here to find out more information concerning this issue and to sign the Visitor Center Petition; and, regardless of your age, please ask your family and friends to sign the petition also. Bob Conley on the Federal Bailout

My fellow patriot,

Everywhere I go on the campaign trail, people continue to ask me about my position on the Wall Street bailouts. This indicates a high level of frustration with our elected representatives in Washington, including my opponent Lindsey Graham (R), who voted to transfer over $700 Billion hard-earned tax dollars from the Middle Class to the nation’s top-tier financial power brokers.

I have said repeatedly that I would not have voted for any of the bailouts. Such plans amount to corporate welfare and go far beyond what is permitted by the U.S. Constitution and the intent of the Framers.

For every bailout, the wallets of American workers are picked three times: their tax dollars, higher inflation, and a devalued dollar. Meanwhile, they struggle with higher energy, food and healthcare costs while trying to cope with stagnant wages, job losses, and mounting personal debt.

I do not believe these bailouts were necessary to rescue the national economy or rebuild confidence in our financial system, as Lindsey Graham claims. Wall Street firms and banks were already taking corrective measures of their own by selling off their assets, scaling down operations, moving out of risky lines of business, and merging with each other — doing what troubled companies have always done when faced with a crisis.

Federal government interference with these self-correction mechanisms amounts to the socialization of Wall Street losses, while profits remain in private hands. This accelerates the dangerous trend whereby the rich get richer and too big to fail, while the rest of us get poorer and are forced to fail.

Far from restoring confidence in our institutions, every bailout diminishes confidence and makes recovery take much longer. American workers live by the rules, and they expect Wall Street and Washington to do the same. When they see their own government transfer their tax dollars to reward those who have broken the rules, not only is confidence shattered, but trust for their elected representatives is irretrievably lost.

South Carolinians and voters across the nation will have the opportunity to take corrective measures of their own on November 4. Changing the corrupt environment in Washington requires new leadership that understands the proper role of government, respects the Constitution, and allows the free market to determine true value.

2. We need a good subtitle for our YCLA site heading. The two best I could come up with are: "Serving and Inspiring Activist Youth for Principle" and "Creating and Mobilizing a Team of Biblicist Young People." Please let me know what ideas you have.

3. I have thought about it and have decided it would probably be best to have the advancement system in the Handbook be a part of a new program under the YCLA which could be called "BEAMS." It tenatively stands for "Becoming Energetic And Mobilized Servants." I'd like to have something in there which connotes principle, though (so comments are welcome)! It would also be great to have money to purchase new cards and literature, etc. for the purpose of the new operation.

Good opportunities coming up:

1. My siblings and I are going to be able to attend Kingsway Christian School here in Ohio. There is a good attitude of focus and excellence there and there should be some receptiveness to the YCLA idea. :-)

Two Congressional Victories!

Wow! We recently had a couple of wonderful events in Congress.

First, Americans will now be allowed to get oil from the oceans off our own country. Nancy Pelosi's efforts to supposedly "save the planet" have evidently been defeated. :-p The ban on offshore drilling was not renewed, and will expire October 1st (this coming Wednesday). Sen. Jim DeMint described it as an "energy freedom day for America."

Also, perhaps even better, the socialistic plan to "bail out" the American economy for $700 billion dollars was unexpectedly defeated today in the House!!!! In reality, the goal of this bill had been to buy out the banks and mortgage institutions, giving control over all commerce to the Federal government. The vote was 205 for, 228 against. The plan had been supported by President Bush and both major party presidential candidates.

However, the vote immediately caused the stock market to plunge toward a large crisis, so we might be seeing interesting days ahead for the economy. If I had any advice it would be for everyone to get their assets into precious metals and/or other tangible investments they can trade or use to provide things for themselves they can trade with. In other words, cash and other "funds" are not going to be dependable much longer. There have been people saying similar things for a long time, but it is different when it is actually occuring right before our very eyes!

The best thing about the economic problems is that people will begin needing to look to Something Greater than their pocketbooks to provide for them. And in America, it would truly be a great benefit for us to do so.

Baldwin not being represented in "voter guides"

The following is an abridged email from the official Chuck Baldwin campaign.

Across the country there are voter's guides being published by various organizations. Far too often these guides are incomplete and inaccurate. One example is the American Family Association's 'Voter's Guide' . Another example of bias is OpenSecrets.org where a variety of candidates are listed, but not Chuck! We need your help to reach these groups to show them that everyday people are interested in all of the candidates, and in true information about them, not merely canned campaign rhetoric.

Please take a few moments to contact them letting them know they have 1) misrepresented John McCain's voting record on the issues and 2) ignored the only truly pro-life, pro-secure borders, pro-second amendment candidate: Constitution Party presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin!

I see no mention of the FEC-registered candidate for president who is 100% pro-life, pro-2nd amendment and anti- amnesty : Constitution Party presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin. Christians are being deceived by your blackout on a viable candidate for president. To make matters worse, you're asking them to send you money to help you deceive them. Please explain this issue.

He is elderly ; she is young. He has a poor record on abortion; she is pro-life. He is a man; she is a woman. And by picking 44-year old mother and pro-life feminist Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate, John McCain has made a politically strategic choice aimed at softening conservatives and evangelicals.

Mrs. Palin, a long-time member of “Feminists for Life,” is the mother of five children ages 7, 13, 17, and 19, and a four-month old Down’s syndrome baby born on April 17 of this year. She returned to the office of governor three days after giving birth to her child.

Despite the misleading statements on the right-to-life issue made at the Saddleback Church by candidate McCain, the Senator has a longstanding pro-abortion track record on matters of judicial appointments, stem cell research, funding for Planned Parenthood, and more. By selecting Palin, McCain hopes to soften his bad record on life and appeal to conservatives. By selecting a woman, he hopes to present Republicans as the party of inclusion and change. What does the Bible say about this issue? Bill Einwechter offers some important thoughts.

The selection of a feminist, pro-life mother of five with four children, seventeen and under, including a newborn Down’s syndrome baby, to fulfill the post of vice president is with out precedent in American history. What Democratic vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro was unable to accomplish for the feminist cause in 1984 may now be handed as a fait accompli to America through the hands of evangelicals and conservatives. After decades of Christian leaders fighting against the feminstic vision of the working supermom, Republicans are now showcasing the vision in the most high profile election in the world.

At this point, Americans must consider the real possibility that the United States may have a mother of young children serving ultimately as commander-in-chief of the military and chief executive over one of the most influential nations in the world. Today, our friend Janice Crouse of Concerned Women for America offered a press release in which she declared: “Here is a woman of accomplishment who brings a fresh face to traditional values and models the type of woman most girls want to become.”

I respectfully disagree with part of that statement. I am confident that Mrs. Palin is a delightful, sincere, thoughtful, and capable woman with many commendable virtues. But in fairness, there is nothing “traditional” about mothers of young children becoming career moms, chief magistrates, and leading nations of three hundred million, nor is this pattern the biblical ideal to which young women should aspire. At a time when motherhood and marriage is so under attack, the mess age Republicans are sending is this: Winning political elections is more important than the following proposition given by the Lord: “That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, [To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed” (Titus 2:4-5).

Hi! Today is the 221st anniversary of the signing of the great United States Constitution. Hurray! :-) I was blessed to be able to get on WORD (the local talk show station) this morning to mention the Liberty In Law message and quote Thomas Jefferson for the occasion.

I updated the www.LibertyInLaw.com site a good bit here this evening, as well as the YoungChristianLeaders.org site. The LIL site I think is now ready to be fully promoted. Praise the LORD!

I got several good emails today, including one from Ohio and one from Texas, of people who are interested in helping with possible new YCLA chapters in those states. Those are good states to do it in, too, because we already have other contacts in them who would probably want to join. Please pray for these opportunities to work out.

Also, I finished up the first complete draft of the Handbook the other day. It is 71 pages long, and would probably have to be published as a book rather than being printed out from online by those using it (which was our intention), so I created a simpler abridged version of only 19 pages, with just the basics. It should work for this purpose well.

Baldwin-Castle Campaign Revs Up

Chuck Baldwin's site has just been re-done - I think it's pretty good (but still needs some work of course), with great new pictures too! Check it out at http://www.baldwin08.com/.

The JBS Presidential poll currently shows Baldwin leading. There are also other signs that freedom-oriented people are beginning to lean away from Bob Barr and towards Chuck Baldwin. I hope that it this trend continues, because it represents the success of the message of Liberty In Law.

Ron Paul's report on the Rally For the Republic

Dear friends,

What a thrilling week we've just had - three days of wonderful events, culminating in the great Rally for the Republic on September 2, which C-SPAN2 covered in its entirety. Americans got to hear more truth in our one day in Minneapolis than in decades' worth of standard political conventions.

I hope you were as impressed with the speakers and the performances as I was. The day reaffirmed for me that the movement on behalf of our philosophy is blessed with brains, talent, and nerve.

If you missed it, we'll be making the whole thing available soon. In the meantime, you can watch whatever speakers you'd like to see right here.

Now it's time to turn to the hard work of the Campaign for Liberty. We have our work cut out for us. Our economic woes are being foolishly blamed on the free market. The federal government is taking over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as those of us with any sense feared it would. We face the looming prospect of still more wars: with Iran, Russia, and now Pakistan.We need to inject some sanity into these debates.

Right now, though, I wish simply to thank you for all your sacrifices and hard work. Just when I think I cannot be any more amazed by your commitment to our ideas, you go and surprise me again. I deeply appreciate your devotion to our cause.

Remember one of the most important things our presidential campaign proved: there are millions of us out there. If 1.2 million Americans voted for our ideas in a Republican primary, think of how many more there must be.

We are not alone. We know that now. And when it comes to energy, creativity, and enthusiasm, our side wins hands down. I know these will be our secret weapons as we keep up the fight in these dark times to restore our republic, and to see peace and prosperity transformed from a campaign slogan into a way of life.

YCLA Creation Trip Report

Hello friends!

Our group had an awesome time on the Creation Museum adventure this past weekend. There were 21 people who came along, plus one boy who we met at the campground where we stayed.

The ride up took about seven hours, including stops (approx. 9:45 AM to 4:45 PM). The final hour was tense as we drew closer to our destination, and at the same time, to a huge gray cloud system! As we neared the campground, rain was increasingly falling and everyone was dismayed to realize we would have to set up our tents in a watery deluge. However, we prayed and miraculously, as we began to unload, the rain completely stopped.

For supper, we had a luscious meal of hamburgers and hot dogs grilled over the campfire by our pastor, John Griffith. Pastor Griffith is also a former Scoutmaster and a creation geologist, and we are happy to say his cooking "rocks!" (NOT as in "tastes like rocks") :-D

We had a fairly uneventful but relaxing evening. Several of us went for walks around the campground and on the couple of verdant trails. We also had a lot of fun at the small park and playground. At the playground, we met Bobby (an unsaved public school kid), the boy who we were able to bring along to the Museum the next day.

Saturday, I woke up early due to a watch alarm from another tent, which went off at 5:30 in the morning! Pastor Griffith and several others headed off to Wal-Mart at about 6:30, and I whistled Reveille for everyone who was not up yet at 7:00. Breakfast was excellent, with bacon, eggs, grits, and fruit. We got ready to go around 9:15, and left just past 9:30.

We were greeted at the Creation Museum by the helpful and friendly Answers in Genesis staff. While I worked on the admission fees and group paperwork, they handed out schedules for the day and explained information about the museum.

Our trek through the exhibits went well, although we were divided up somewhat when we came out, which was expected. Most people said their favorite part of the museum was the "Men in White" special effects program. This show features two "angels" who depict for the viewer the absurdity of Evolution, as well as providing an overview of the Creationist view of science. Many of our group also said they liked the petting zoo, the Noah's Ark exhibits, and the Planetarium. My favorite part was probably the lecture by Dr. Terry Mortenson on the relevance of Genesis to Christian doctrine and morality.

I was able to give out at least a dozen YCLA business cards to respectable-looking young people at the museum. I even talked to two kids who were volunteering their work there that day (Joshua, a boy of maybe 12 and his sister Kaitlyn?, a girl of maybe 10). They seemed awed by the YCLA concept of bringing together and mobilizing like-minded young people for causes such as that of Creationism. I tried to really thank these kids for what they were doing, and let them know I was very encouraged to see them there!

Back at the campground, we enjoyed the swimming pool with Bobby and several other children from the campground. The water was not bad at all. :-)

We ate burritos for supper. Afterwards, a few of us got together and prayed for Bobby and his family. However, this particular evening was slightly more energetic than the last one; there was a lot of running around and confusion, and even in the middle of the night, a large shout was suddenly heard from inside a tent right next to mine. I got up and investigated, but to this moment, I am not quite sure what caused it.... Oh well. :-D

We left the next morning at 8:30 AM, and arrived back at the church in good time to get freshened up for the Sunday evening service.

We praise God for the wonderful time we had on this trip. Please pray with us for continuing results and impact from it in the lives of those who went, as well as for the salvation of Bobby and those like him. Also, pray that God will direct us as we look towards a similar (2nd annual!) trip to the Museum next year.

YCLA Update

Sunday afternoon we finalized the plans for the Creation Museum trip. We decided to provide most of the meals as a group, but to ask for a donation of $5-10 per person to help defer the cost. We also reviewed the membership application questionnaire I drafted, and the proposed membership certificate.

The YCLA, in addition to the food cost, will be paying for the van rental, the fuel, and the lodging at the campground. As of right now, we only need about $60 more in donations to cover these items. Praise God!

Please keep praying for the trip to be a success, both in organization and effect!

In other news, I decided to start sending out brief weekly emails for the YCLA. The emails will include a quote from a Founding Father or other important historical figure, as well as a short paragraphed KJV Scripture passage. Email ycla@youngchristianleaders.org if you want to sign up.

Finally, the new Handbook is almost ready! It includes a rank system based on the wavelengths of the Electromagnetic Spectrum, starting at "Microwave" and finishing at "Cosmic Ray."

Update!! on YCLA Museum Trip

The Creation Museum trip is now postponed to the weekend of August 29-31. There were a bunch of conflicts in people's schedules for this week and the next, which made it necessary to change the time. That weekend is now the FINAL date. We will not be postponing it again.

All other details are still in place, except that the cost of food is going to be lower than we anticipated (which is good!). We are now thinking meals will be around an average of $4 per meal per person.

Those actually planning to come number at least 20, and adding a bunch more who may come brings it to around 30 as of right now. We will probably end up needing one more van, so if you are in the area (Upstate SC and Western NC) and would like to lend us one, we would definitely appreciate it. Is World War III Beginning?

The Russian invasion of Georgia is not just an isolated incident. Russia declared it was acting to "protect" a particular pipeline, which ships oil to Israel. Without the oil from the pipeline, Iran will be the only major oil producer in Central Asia, and Israel will no longer have an overland source of oil.

The United States, the European Union, and Israel are preparing for war against Russia and Iran. One of the largest naval fleets in history, containing both U.S. and E.U. ships, is right now heading towards the Persian Gulf, and Israel has just completed a massive defense operation for a simulated Iranian invasion.

It would be unlikely for full-scale fighting to begin during the Olympics. But if the rhetoric and war planning continue to escalate over the next few weeks, and especially if there is some big disaster, I would not be surprised if our government decides to go ahead and attack Iran. In that case, China will not be on our side either - in fact, they could themselves invade Taiwan, which they have been wanting to do for some time. A Taiwan invasion would quite possibly create a second (or third) theater of war, spreading the U.S. military thinner than ever.

I hope the "free" governments of the world will think twice about trying to defeat Iran in battle, because it would be a fight they could not win. On the other hand, it would mean Christ's return is very near. (Think: Zechariah 12)

Gold and silver and gas down for once

It's interesting, silver is at $15.36 per ounce right now (and going down), and gold is at $854.30. Gas correlates with them, down to around about $3.49 per gallon or so for an average in our area. Meaning, that inflation must be down slightly. But I doubt it will be for long. Now is a good time to invest. :-)

Museum Trip Details

The much-anticipated “August Answers Adventure” to the Creation Museum is almost here! For those of you who wanted more info on the trip, here are the current details:

Date: August 15-17, 2008
Schedule:
a. Friday, Aug. 15 – Leave from northern Greenville (location TBA) around 8 or 9 AM, travel until 5 or 6 PM, set up tents and have supper
b. Saturday, Aug. 16 – Begin Creation Museum tour at 10:30 AM, lunch at Noah’s Ark Café or picnic outside, special events in afternoon
c. Sunday, Aug. 17 – Travel back
Lodging: Oak Creek Campground / bring tents and sleeping bags, cost will be provided; or, cabins are available (payment required).
Transportation will be provided.
Food: Families in charge; bring bag lunch for Friday noon, minimal snacks if desired for trip. Around $6 per person per meal is a good average.
Admission: Individual payment is encouraged, but will be provided if necessary; we recommend bringing $30-40 to get full benefit of museum plus souvenirs, books, etc. Cost at departure (the YCLA must pay it at the Museum in one transaction for the group rate) is $18.00 per adult, $13.50 per senior and $9.00 per child (five to 12 years old). Children five and under are free.
Rules: By coming along with us, you agree to follow directions of the adults, be kind and respectful to those around you, and not be rowdy when you are supposed to be quiet. Otherwise, just be alert to the learning experiences, and have fun!!!

Baldwin Says, Save the Republic

Yesterday, the Politico quoted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as saying, "I'm trying to save the planet; I'm trying to save the planet." She was responding, of course, to pressure that she and her fellow Democrats are experiencing to suspend a congressional ban on offshore oil drilling in the face of skyrocketing energy prices. It would be really wonderful, however, if the liberal congresswoman could get as energized about saving our once great republic.

Wow: YCLA Rally a Big Success

Thank you so much for your prayers, everyone! Praise the Lord!

Our Creation rally last night was a smashing success. We had close to fifty people attend, at least two-thirds of whom were young people. We re-organized the schedule for the evening at the last minute, so that we sang first, then Mr. Orcutt spoke, then we had pizza, then games, and finally, the door prizes and dinosaur giveaway. This lineup made for a much more suspenseful and dramatic evening I believe. :-)

Special thanks to Pastor John Griffith and Faith Independent Baptist Church for the use of their folding chairs, to my brother John for his great work in helping clean the building, and to Rahab Hackett for the piano and harp music. Also, thanks to my dad, Roy Magnuson, for his brilliance of ideas and hard work helping me organize everything, and to all those who provided food, drinks, donations, etc., including my sister Stephanie for baking her famous giant chocolate-chip cookies!

Thanks most of all to our amazing speaker, Mr. Jon Orcutt. Mr. Orcutt spoke on the need for leadership in America from a Creationist perspective. He emphasized that a new reformation is within our reach. He said if all the two million Christian homeschooled kids in the United States would mobilize and take initiative, it would be a complete juggernaut for the forces of evil in our country. However, he said that nothing will happen until we are willing to face real persecution and perhaps death. We must, in truth, give everything we have back to our Creator.

My dad gave a brief invitation after this stirring message. He asked whether anyone wanted to change from being a "consumer" Christian to a "producer" Christian. Did we want to seriously follow Christ in our lives? Many people raised their hands.

Afterwards, the pizza was great and the games were a blast. We played "Upset the Fruit Basket," in which players must switch seats when their team name (a kind of fruit) is called. We also played the secret magazine game (shhh!) where players take turns trying to figure out how the second of two people is being communicated to regarding which magazine of nine the first of the two people has chosen. There was also a treasure hunt for the younger children, for four lizards hidden around the building. :-)

The life-size dinosaur turned out to be (for those who didn't know what it was) a model of a baby T-Rex. It was only about two feet high. An often-asked question is, "How could Noah have gotten all those dinosaurs on the Ark?" The answer is that the dinosaurs on the Ark, like the baby T-Rex, would not have had to have been fully grown; and, very few dinosaurs grew to a large size to begin with. The average size of a dinosaur is currently estimated to have been somewhere around the size of a sheep.

We concluded in a word of prayer, asking God to continue to bless our efforts and help us finish raising the money for our Creation Museum trip in mid-August, and praising him for the wonderful success which our meeting was!

Hopefully, we will be able to have another meeting like that in the not-too-distant future. Also, we are hoping we can have a fund-raising car wash sometime in the first week of August, perhaps Wednesday afternoon the 6th.

Ron Paul Announces Minneapolis Rally

This year we plan to attend again and already have a number of families going along. Some folks from Faith Independent Baptist Church in Cleveland SC, and a few other homeschooling families are very excited. We want to find a few public school children to bring along also! If you know of any honorable, well behaved public school children, (they do not necessarily have to be born again) that go to your church or that you are ministering to and you would like to send along we have about a half a dozen free entrance passes for them and are praying so as to make the trip free for them. McDonald's Joins Anti-Family Movement

(The following is from an email from the American Family Association. While many people who read this website probably don't care for McDonald's anyway :-), here is just one more reason not to go there.)

Throwing out any pretense of being neutral in the culture war, McDonald's has taken up the rhetoric of gay activists, suggesting those who oppose same-sex marriage (SSM) are motivated by hate.

AFA has asked for a boycott of McDonald's restaurants because of the company’s promotion of the gay agenda. AFA asked McDonald’s to remain neutral in the culture war. McDonald’s refused.

In response to the boycott, McDonald's spokesman Bill Whitman suggested to the Washington Post that those who oppose SSM are motivated by hate, saying "...hatred has no place in our culture." McDonald's has decided to adopt the "hate" theme used by gay activist groups for years.

Whitman went on to say, "We stand by and support our people to live and work in a society free of discrimination and harassment." Mr. Whitman has intentionally avoided addressing the reason for the boycott. This boycott is not about hiring gays or how gay employees are treated. It is about McDonald's choosing to put the full weight of their corporation behind promoting their agenda.

McDonald's donated $20,000 to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in exchange for membership and a seat on the group’s board of directors. The NGLCC lobbies Congress in support of same-sex marriage.

McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner said the company will promote issues they approve. "Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world...and we do."

Take Action!
• Sign the online Boycott McDonald's petition.
• Forward this to family and friends and ask them to sign the petition.

The YCLA Is Turning A Corner (yes!!!)

One year after we started, I believe we are definitely beginning to get moving with the YCLA, both with new support and membership potential. While the number of those interested in our work is now quite large, and we have contacts in fifteen States, it has been hard up to now to really get people motivated to do something. :-p

The ACG (Americans for Constitituional Government) banquet last Saturday was a Providential happening in relation to me in more ways than one - I might not have even known about it at all, for starters. :-) But especially it was great what came out of it: tons of contacts, a bunch of new enthusiasm and encouragement for what we are doing, two new Council members (Mr. Roan Garcia-Quintana and Rev. David Merck) and best of all, a permanent link from Rev. Merck's "Red Clay Man" emails to the YCLA website (http://www.youngchristianleaders.org/)!

Things are falling into place for the Creation Museum trip as well. We need more money, but planning-wise we are having a lot of success. Hopefully we will be having a big meeting sometime the week of July 20 (probably Monday the 21st) with actual speakers and some fundraising activities! The trip itself will be the weekend of August 15-17.

The LORD has really been good to us. We need to jump on the opportunities now. I'm hoping I can send out kind of an introductory email to all the folks I met at camp and so on recently, in the near future.

Three Camps in Three Weeks

Wow! I just got back yesterday from three camps in direct sequence. I was pretty tired. :-p

The first one was Camp Raven Knob, a Boy Scout camp near Hickory, NC. I took the Photography/Cinematography, Wilderness Survival, Swimming, and First Aid Merit Badge classes. I was able to witness to at least three people, as well as planting a lot of seeds I believe for the concept of God as the Creator, etc. One boy named Jacob was really interested in dinosaurs, and seemed fascinated to learn that the Bible was not only compatible with science, but actually does a far better job of explaining life, fossils, and so on, than what he had been taught in school about the "millions of years." The LORD also gave me some great friends who loved the YCLA ideas. :-)

The second camp was Drama Camp at Bob Jones University. I learned a huge amount on speech and presentational skills, as well as having an enormous amount of fun and great spiritual input. We did a play at the end of the week. Ron Pyle, who played Yuri in The Printing, was the Director, which was really cool! There were a lot of possible YCLA contacts there as well.

The third camp, ending yesterday, was Harvest Time Bible Camp. I went at the last minute as a Junior Counselor. It was an amazing experience helping younger kids and being such an inspiration to some of them. In the whole week there were probably a dozen to two dozen people who gave their lives to Christ, including three from my cabin. One boy, who found out about the YCLA and was amazed to see me so excited about something like that, was saved in the service the last night I think. One of his friends also stood up at the campfire that evening and said that he "would use his life to go around telling people about Jesus." :-D

Please pray for all these kids and young people I have met over the last few weeks to grow in the LORD however they need to and not lose sight of God's purpose for their lives. Also, keep praying for me too!

There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up."

Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, "Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?"

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up."

Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, "Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?"

They answered and said unto the king, "True, O king."

He answered and said, "Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither."

Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God."

Election Tomorrow!

For South Carolina readers of this blog, the primary election is tomorrow, June 10th. In most cases my recommendation would be to simply vote against the incumbents in the Republican primary; but one might find in fact find it more appropriate to vote in the Democratic primary for two candidates with ideas more like those of Ron Paul Republicans. These candidates are Bob Conley for Senate, and Ted Christian for 4th District Congress. However, if one votes in the Democratic primary for these candidates, he will not be able to vote for Republicans running for State House and Senate who would be a benefit to Gov. Sanford, such as Patrick Haddon or Wendy Nanney. You Decide.

The bottom line is, party affiliation was not something intended by the Founders to begin with. We really must get out of such "loyalties" if we are to accomplish anything principled. Once again, please do not vote for the candidate who has "contributed" the most to the Party, or who "can win." Vote with your principles. Tomorrow, make sure to think when you press buttons!

YCLA Update

I stocked up on Chick tracts from church on Sunday night. :-) I got about 75. We missed going on a tract-passing expedition for May; I hope we will have time here in June! However, our family is probably going to be fairly busy this summer.

Also, I put the post on Edward VI as the YCLA Feature Column for this month, after editing it slightly. The one on our vision, etc. had actually been there for two months (both April and May).... I hope to soon be getting other people to write the Feature Columns, if possible.

Our prisoner to write to and pray for this month is from China: Alimujiang Yimiti.

Edward VI: A Hero of the Reformation

Recently, I bought a book on king Edward VI of Britain by N. A. Woychuck, entitled "The British Josiah: Edward VI, the Most Godly King of England." While one reason I got it may be obvious ;-), the main reason is that I didn't know of anywhere else I could get a complete biography of this fabulous character of 450 years ago.

Edward VI has been more or less one of my heros since I learned of him. He became king in 1547 when he was nine years old, but unfortunately, died just before he turned sixteen (supposedly of tuberculosis; but perhaps by poisoning). He was one of the main movers involved in circulating the Bible to the common people. He is also known as one of the most just and compassionate kings in history!

His father, Henry VIII, had appointed a Privy Council to help Edward govern. Most of the book is in relation to this body, addressing the almost-continuous power struggles between its members. Dealing with the power struggles was perhaps Edward's greatest challenge.

Much of the book also describes Edward's education and family relations. He had two sisters, Mary and Elizabeth, both of whom would become queens. One was very bad, the other very good, respectively.

Edward loved to write, and what is even more worth the while than the main book is a short booklet written by Edward himself, included as an appendix. This article is absolutely outstanding! It is entitled Against the Primacy of the Pope, and was intended to be distributed through England. Apparently, the public was rather adverse to the idea of the Reformation, even though Edward was extremely popular as a personality. Thus, Edward realized the only way to bring them to fully reject the Catholic persausion was to produce a thought-out, understandable booklet with his name physically attached. He completed this work when he was twelve. However, it was not published until shortly before his death, after which the infamous Bloody Mary came to the monarchy and restored Catholicism.

Edward's booklet is full of common sense and truth. It sounds to me like Ron Paul with a regal twist. In it, he addresses such subjects as, "Is Rome the Mother of All Churches?," "Contrast Between Jesus and Pope," and "Can a Lawful Council be Called by a Pope Seeking Election?," which shows the logical fallacy of stating that the Pope is superior to other bishops by the decree of a Council. Here is a passage from it:

"But to the matter in hand. I will ask, whether a lawful council can be called but by the pope? To which, I am sure, the papists will answer negatively. Then I ask, if the pope can call a Council before his election? To which I know they will reply, he cannot. If then no council is lawful without a pope, and that none who is laboring to be elected pope can assemble a council, then the council which confirms the pope as superior over the church, is not lawful, because it was not convocated by a pope, there being none elected."

Edward's escatological position is predictably Historicist. For example, he states near the end of the work he believes that the two eyes of the "little horn" of Daniel represent "the pope and Mahomet." His interpretation is unique in that he recognized that the Papal and Islamic systems, even though they often disagree, are of the same essential substance and origination.

Edward's greatest acheivements in England were to create schools and hospitals for the poor, to end officially-sanctioned idol worship, Mass, and other Catholic rituals, to reform the monetary system and end silver debasement (inflation), and to work to end the practice of executing religious "heretics," whether Protestant or Catholic. This last effort was almost unheard of in Europe at the time. Edward was a true champion of Biblical supremacy.

I am definitely grateful that God has raised up such people as king Edward VI in history to inspire us. Let us pray that we will be more like them, and continue to fulfill their vision and legacy! Let us also, like Edward, remember to consistently cry to God: "O Lord, save Thy people!"

Paul and Baldwin to speak at JBS

Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin will be the main speakers at the 50th Anniversary celebration of the John Birch Society, according to the JBS website (http://www.jbs.org/50th). I found out about this event at the Daily Paul (http://www.dailypaul.com/node/51453#comments). It will take place October 2-5, 2008 in Appleton, Wisconsin.

There is really no reason for Ron Paul supporters to reject supporting Chuck Baldwin. Dr. Baldwin is the only candidate who will be on the ballot in November with the exact principles of Ron Paul. Bob Barr (the Libertarian) takes a position on immigration which sounds deceptively similar to "open borders." And, Chuck Baldwin at least has a chance of winning the support of the Huckabee and Romney people due to his Christian emphasis. Bob Barr seems a completely secular candidate, which is my problem with the Libertarian Party to begin with.

Ron Paul I believe sees things the same way regarding the Libertarians, since he boldly noted on the Mike Gallagher show last summer that he is "a constititutionalist, not a Libertarian." Also, Mike Peroutka, the previous CP nominee for President, stated to me at his conference last July that Ron Paul was the only sitting Congressman to contribute to his campaign (on which Baldwin was the VP nominee) in 2004. So not only did Chuck Baldwin work very hard for Ron Paul, Dr. Paul gave funds to Chuck Baldwin's previous campaign!

Hopefully, Ron Paul will actually endorse Chuck Baldwin in the near future and then there will be very little debate on this subject. :-)

Senator Lindsey Graham receives award from La Raza for promoting the "pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens" and defending the best interests of the Hispanic community. La Raza in English means "The Race", and they are widely viewed as a racist organization. Senator Graham crossed the line on March 6th 2007 when he accepted an award from this organization and in his keynote address at La Raza's Awards Dinner called you a "Bigot" and said that you need to "shut up" if you were against his Comprehensive Immigration (Amnesty) Reform Bill. Huckabee: "New Libertarianism" a Threat to GOP

"The greatest threat to classic Republicanism is not liberalism; it's this new brand of libertarianism, which is social liberalism and economic conservatism, but it's a heartless, callous, soulless type of economic conservatism because it says 'look, we want to cut taxes and eliminate government. If it means that elderly people don't get their Medicare drugs, so be it. If it means little kids go without education and healthcare, so be it.' Well, that might be a quote pure economic conservative message, but it's not an American message. It doesn't fly. People aren't going to buy that, because that's not the way we are as a people. That's not historic Republicanism. Historic Republicanism does not hate government; it's just there to be as little of it as there can be. But they also recognize that government has to be paid for.

"If you have a breakdown in the social structure of a community, it's going to result in a more costly government ... police on the streets, prison beds, court costs, alcohol abuse centers, domestic violence shelters, all are very expensive. What's the answer to that? Cut them out? Well, the libertarians say 'yes, we shouldn't be funding that stuff.' But what you've done then is exacerbate a serious problem in your community. You can take the cops off the streets and just quit funding prison beds. Are your neighborhoods safer? Is it a better place to live? So Mike Huckabee not only states that the constitutional movement goes against traditional Republican principles, he does so by essentially equating it with anarchism. Amazing and sad, but that's the modern political realm. If Huckabee really believed in the principles of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan, wouldn't he realize that the Constitution is the best defense for traditional values, and a strong but compassionate economic system, existing today?

Well, I found a good idea for the Ron Paul campaign on a blog called "Nation Builder." It is that Ron Paul should challenge McCain to a debate, in return for donating 1 million dollars to his favorite charity in return. Check it out!

Also, while I had not been looking forward to diving into the Chuck Baldwin campaign myself, I suddenly realized that because of my office in the SC Constitution Party I have a responsibility to work to organize stuff for Chuck Baldwin in South Carolina at least. Somehow God keeps pointing me back to the political field, even when I try to do other things. :-) So I contacted the national campaign, and they told me their main strategy right now is getting Ron Paul meetup groups on board.

I will Lord-willing be working with Ted Adams on an email to circulate, to the effect of, "Which general election Presidential candidate actively campaigned for Ron Paul in South Carolina?" (answer: Chuck Baldwin) and "Which political party provided the most support for Ron Paul?" (answer: Constitution Party). I also made a temporary site for myself and whoever wants to use it until they get Chuck Baldwin's permanent site up: www.Baldwin2008.weebly.com. I might get a more official-sounding address for it later.

With the YCLA, we are hoping to begin going door-to-door for the Answers Magazines soon.

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it. And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes; Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.

As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king. And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.

Lindsey Graham: The Worst GOP Senator?

South Carolina's Lindsey Graham is a flop. He pretends to be a conservative, but sells out conservatives and insults them while doing so. He pretends to be effective at reaching across party lines, but the only thing he effectively does is help the other party. He inhabits the Senate seat of Strom Thurmond, legendary for great attention to his South Carolina constituents, but Graham spends most of his time trailing behind John McCain like a valet as McCain criss-crosses the country in pursuit of the presidency. He called Ted Kennedy "one of the most principled men I've ever met." In sum, in the words of conservative movement stalwart Richard Viguerie, "Lindsey Graham is part of the problem."

Differential Gears from 80 B.C.? etc.

I found an interesting webpage the other day which seems to indicate conclusively that 1. Ancient humans were much smarter than most of science gives them credit for, and/or 2. Modern dating methods are completely off track.

My personal belief is that the pre-Flood world probably had certain technologies normally thought of as relatively new - why should they not have? And, they of course would have passed down some information about their technologies. Most of the information would have been lost, however, after the dispersion of Babel, and it certainly would have been destroyed as the Middle Ages began.

If you view the site, please read it with that in mind. (What I am saying is I do not believe in space aliens, which is what that site leans towards.)

Ron Paul on AOL News

Please go here for an interesting and not-too-biased article featured on the AOL front page today regarding our constitutionalist hero. While it still refers to us as "libertarians" and displays the necessary bit of tongue-in-cheek for it to get read, it gives an otherwise well-balanced view of the growing interest in freedom among Americans.

Since the GOP will be in shambles after November if it nominates John McCain, I hope the delegates at the Convention will recognize the potential for their party in Ron Paul's message.

And don't forget to vote for "a big role" at the bottom of the page when you visit the link!

Atheists want their beliefs enforced by the State

The latest battleground is Florida, where a bill has been passed in the House of Representatives to require schools to teach “critical analysis of evolution.” Additionally, Michigan, Missouri, Louisiana, and Alabama all have similar bills under consideration in state government.

Unsurprisingly, evolutionists claim these bills are merely a “smokescreen” for teaching creation or intelligent design, which would pit these bills against the 2005 Dover ruling that teaching intelligent design in schools was an unconstitutional imposition of religion.

Maybe we should write State Senator Mike Fair and tell him we will re-elect him on June 10 if he will once again take up the banner of Intelligent Design and not back down like last time. Actually, it is much easier, and from my experience much more effective, to work to influence existing office-holders, than to try to boot them out in favor of "better" candidates.

YCLA Update

Friday evening we had our first meeting in a while. We discussed the progress of our Answers project, including the new video! We also discussed possibilities for the trip to the Creation Museum in Kentucky. We decided to buy 10 back issues of Answers Magazine to lend to those helping us distribute it, which can be given completely to them once they get 5 people signed up. This system will replace the $5 bonus previously awarded to those who signed up 7 new subscribers. We will continue to award the basic $1 per subscription referral.

Also, we decided to continue buying Chick Tracts, with a larger emphasis on those with Creation/Biblical authority messages.

Finally, we thought about ways to market better, including creating bumper stickers.
The next day several of us attended the Constitution Party State Convention in Greenville, SC. It was a fabulous time, although it took a bit too long (6 hours! with a 15-min. break in the middle). There was an excellent buffet breakfast and great speakers. There was even a family with four children there who, to their credit, sat through the whole meeting!

We were able to get out all the business cards I had brought along, which was about 20 or 30. Most of the people in that group had a real interest in our efforts. Praise God!

Christian Prisoner for May

Our YCLA featured prisoner this month is Evangelist Girmay Ambaye. On May 11, 2005 Ambaye was arrested by security police in Eritrea for witnessing about Christ to people on a city bus. It is the third time Ambaye has been imprisoned for his faith in the last few years.

Please send a letter of encouragement and let Evangelist Ambaye know that you are praying for him and other persecuted believers in Eritrea. Let your friends know about the suffering Christians in Eritrea and encourage them to pray and write to Ambaye. Your letters make a difference sometimes resulting in shorter prison sentences. Write to Ambaye today and let him know you are praying for him.

What the UN is planning...

The Millennium Declaration is a paper expressing the desires of the United Nations. Barack Obama is sponsoring a bill right now in the U.S. Senate with the purpose of "strategizing" to fulfill some of its principles. The name of the bill is the "Global Poverty Act," and it is numbered S. 2433. (You can take action here, or just email your Senator.) Here are some of the provisions of the Millennium Declaration, from Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, of the Center For Individual Freedom:

the ratification of a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child;
a "currency transfer tax," that is, a tax imposed on companies and individuals who must exchange dollars for foreign currency;
a "tax on the rental value of land and natural resources";
a "royalty on worldwide fossil energy projection -- oil, natural gas, coal";
"fees for the commercial use of the oceans, fees for airplane use of the skies, fees for use of the electromagnetic spectrum, fees on foreign exchange transactions, and a tax on the carbon content of fuels."
a "standing peace force," meaning a standing United Nations army that might, in time, be large enough to force us to bend to its will;
a "UN arms register of all small arms and light weapons," the beginning of the end of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution;
the "eradication of poverty" by the "redistribution [of] wealth and land" -- How do you suppose the United Nations expects to "redistribute" the land and the wealth? And what country do you think the third-world majority will go after first?
cancellation of "the debts of developing countries,"
"a fair distribution of the earth's resources."
and "political control of the global economy."

In other words, the Millennium Declaration is a blueprint for a world government, owned and operated by the United Nations.

Chuck Baldwin for President

Well, folks, we now have a Constitution Party nominee for President, and he's not Alan Keyes. He is Chuck Baldwin! While I will personally be spending as little time as possible on supporting this candidacy, it still might be worthwhile to be able to say "I'm supporting Chuck Baldwin for Prez" so your friends can ask "Why?" and you can give them some education in the Biblical worldview.

Of course, with a pro-amnesty, pro-100-year-war, pro-gay marriage "Republican" as his opponent, Mr. Baldwin just might be able to change some people's minds on their ever-present allegiance to the Demopublican Party and its war games.

But this allegiance is part of why I do not intend to become dramatically involved in Chuck Baldwin's campaign. It simply is not profitable most of the time to try to convince people of their error in working for the "lesser" of two evils. People can always say (and always have), "but what if Obama et. al. gets in?"

Oh well. Hopefully, we as Americans will one day realize the real battle must be for righteousness and principle, not for "the better candidate."

I received in the mail today a package containing one of the most well-written and powerful books to date (so far in my reading) for constitutionalism and traditional conservatism. It is Congressman Paul's book, The Revolution: A Manifesto. Please buy it as soon as possible, so we can make sure it gets on the bestseller lists! I am happy to have pre-ordered it based upon my reading of the Preface, which is as follows:

Every election cycle we are treated to candidates who promise us “change,” and 2008 has been no different. But in the American political lexicon, “change” always means more of the same: more government, more looting of Americans, more inflation, more police-state measures, more unnecessary war, and more centralization of power.

Real change would mean something like the opposite of those things. It might even involve following our Constitution. And that’s the one option Americans are never permitted to hear . . .

With national bankruptcy looming, politicians from both parties continue to make multi-trillion dollar promises of “free” goods from the government, and hardly a soul wonders if we can still afford to have troops in — this is not a misprint — 130 countries around the world.

All of this is going to come to an end sooner or later, because financial reality is going to make itself felt in very uncomfortable ways. But instead of thinking about what this means for how we conduct our foreign and domestic affairs, our chattering classes seem incapable of speaking in anything but the emptiest platitudes, when they can be bothered to address serious issues at all. Fundamental questions like this, and countless others besides, are off the table in our mainstream media, which focuses our attention on trivialities and phony debates as we march toward oblivion.

This is the deadening consensus that crosses party lines, that dominates our major media, and that is strangling the liberty and prosperity that were once the birthright of Americans. Dissenters who tell their fellow citizens what is really going on are subject to smear campaigns that, like clockwork, are aimed at the political heretic. Truth is treason in the empire of lies.

There is an alternative to national bankruptcy, a bigger police state, trillion-dollar wars, and a government that draws ever more parasitically on the productive energies of the American people. It’s called freedom. But as we’ve learned through hard experience, we are not going to hear a word in its favor if our political and media establishments have anything to say about it.

If we want to live in a free society, we need to break free from these artificial limitations on free debate and start asking serious questions once again. I am happy that my campaign for the presidency has finally raised some of them. But this is a long-term project that will persist far into the future. These ideas cannot be allowed to die, buried beneath the mind-numbing chorus of empty slogans and inanities that constitute official political discourse in America.

An Article on YCLA Vision

It is apparent that those who are willing to get involved in bringing America back to conservative, constitutional government are often few and far between. Indeed, young people tend to be the least likely age sector to hold such ideas. The public education system has done an all-too-well-calculated job of creating a thought pattern in many of our peers in which one may be “concerned,” not with taking action to advance morality, justice, or liberty, but with “preserving the environment,” “stopping Global Warming,” and promoting socialist concepts.

The vision behind the YCLA is, first of all, to bring together Christian constitutionalist young people. Especially for homeschoolers, a need exists for us to be able to work with each other and feel useful. Moreover, it is our belief that a group which met that need would release a vast previously-untapped force in the conservative movement. Imagine the things we could do!

Chuck Baldwin on Presidential Choices

Every four years, conservative "pragmatists" trot out the "We Can't Let So-And-So Win" mantra. Of course, the so-and-so in question is always the Democratic Presidential candidate. For all of my adult life, I have been listening to so-called "conservative" Republicans warn us of the impending doom that would befall our country if the Democratic candidate were elected. And this year is no different.

This year's Republican primary did provide a wonderful aberration, however, to the usual choices between Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Republicans had an opportunity to nominate a real American constitutionalist, a statesman in the similitude of Thomas Jefferson or James Madison. That man was Texas Congressman, Ron Paul. Unfortunately, the Republican faithful seem to be incapable of discerning the marks of true greatness, not to mention fidelity to constitutional government. It is doubtful that most of them even understand what constitutional government is. And as for Christian conservatives, they can barely see any issues beyond abortion and "gay rights." To try and convince them to support a constitutionalist candidate is like talking to a brick wall.

So, what choice does the Republican Party offer the American people this year? The worst of all possible choices: good old John "McSame" McCain.

Let's be clear: a John McCain Presidency will be no better than a Hillary Clinton or a Barack Obama Presidency. In fact, in many ways, a McCain White House will be WORSE than a Democratic one.

I just found this quote from Governor Sanford's State of the State address back in January. He specifically mentioned the No-REAL-ID bill of last spring as an accomplishment, so I'm posting this in continued celebration of his standing firm on this issue! :-) Go Sanford!

Praise God, we finally now have an official, traditional site for LibertyInLaw.com, with persuasion-oriented content and a concise and simple three-page setup!

The purpose for this newest website is to present a basic argument for our cause: uniting principled Americans behind Biblical supremacy. The common goal we must each strive for is reclaiming the hearts, minds and most importantly, souls, of individuals. We can try to reclaim America, but the government is not America. People are America. So our main effort must be for people.

None of the other websites we have are somewhere one can go to simply be persuaded for our ideas. The YoungChristianLeaders.org site is to inform and convince people for the YCLA; this World-Rev site gives a perspective on events from me personally; LibertyInLaw.blogspot.com has all the Feature Columns which may or may not be directly relevant; and so on.

The even better thing about the new LibertyInLaw.com is that it can be independent of any other projects or organizations. It can stand alone as a beacon to give clear, direct reasoning for Biblicism and its intrinsic connection to freedom.

Let's keep praying for this vision, and keep thinking and working to do our very, very best for our Lord.

Writing County Councilmen

A great suggestion I received for the YCLA is that we pick an issue of common concern, such as eminent domain or illegal immigration, and find at least one young person in each County Council District who will write/lobby their Councilman on this issue, all at the same time. This would be a good start for a more politically-themed network, which would I guess start in Greenville County and then spread to other neighboring ones, such as Anderson or Transylvania. We would in essence have a YCLA "representative" for each County Council District for as far as it would go.

The big question is, does this plan really advance the kind of goals we are established to advance? Would we become caught up in it, would it confuse people, etc.? Is it even doable?

Pretty much the thing is that what you win people with is what you win them to. If we eventually do take on this project, we will have to be sure that we have a moral argument for the issues we choose. Then I believe this will be a wonderful operation.

More on our second REAL-ID victory

Today [Yesterday], my husband Mike and I were joined by dozens of citizen activists from all over South Carolina at the State House in Columbia, where we waited for and then heard Governor Sanford announce his decision regarding REAL ID, the segue to a national ID card. The E-Release that had been sent out by the Governor's office on Friday indicated that he would be making the announcement in his office. As it turned out, there were so many citizen activists assembled that the decision was made to set up a podium in the lobby between the Governor's and Lt. Governor's offices. This in and of itself was a victory. The lobby was full of press and people.

Some of us wondered what the Governor would say, being as how he waited until the very last day upon which an extension on the deadline to comply with REAL ID could be filed. However, the Governor exceeded our expectations in a number of ways. Here are some of what I consider to be the highlights:

1. He did not and will not file an extension on the deadline to comply with Real ID, based on state law.
2. He referred to his oath of office (which you may know many elected officials forget once they get sworn into office).
3. He correctly identified our nation as a "republic" (not the wrong word "democracy" that many elected officials use).
4. He addressed the right issues in the right order, first of all speaking about liberty, then moving to the "unfunded mandate" handed down to states by the federal government. (I learned that the federal government planned to pay for only 2% of the costs while the remaining 98% would be foisted on the states and taxpayers. Of course, whether from state or federal sources, taxpayers would be paying for 100% of this monstrosity.)
5. He spoke of "drawing a line in the sand" against the federal government. Now, if only Congress would understand Amendment 10 to the U.S. Constitution!
6. He humbly and respectfully submitted his plan, in direct contrast to the rather fiery statement from the Governor of Montana, who told the feds "where" they could go.
7. He outlined the security aspects that the State of South Carolina already has in place on obtaining driver's licenses. He contrasted South Carolina's security requirements with those of other states.
8. He correctly stated that Real ID had not been debated on the federal level and that this issue needed to be "debated, not dictated." He said Real ID was poor public policy for a number of reasons and had numerous loopholes.
9. He spoke about the invasions of privacy that had already taken place in numerous settings, including looking at info on the three presidential candidates. He said that instead of personal information being spread out over 50 states, Real ID would consolidate this info into one place, raising gigantic privacy concerns.

The only downside to today's announcement was that, in the Governor's words, our state legislators got "nervous" to the point of pushing through non-binding resolutions, asking the Governor to file an extension. I'm still not through getting to the bottom of that.

Also, now that the Governor has made this decision, we need to work on contacting our Congressmen and Senators in Washington and press them to look again at Real ID. I want for this ill-conceived piece of legislation to be completely repealed!

Hurrah - REAL-ID is down again!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to everyone who wrote, called, faxed, emailed the Governor's office to express your sentiments regarding standing firm on the Real ID law he signed into law last year!

Thank You too, to the many who came to the press conference to show support for the NO Real ID!

The Press conference was to be held in the Governor's office. As the numbers increased of those of us who assembled to hear his decision, the Governor changed the venue to hold the press conference in the Capitol rotunda so we could all be present.

It was a great time of reunion and fellowship. Many of us didn't know who would actually come, so every new arrival was a joyous occasion.

When the Governor approached the podium, the room fell silent. He studied the group, and began to speak.

Nearly the first words out of his mouth were, "I've called this conference to inform you I will not be asking for an extension on the Real ID"--or some such words. The crowd cheered, clapped, some cried. What a relief!

Then, in a very calm, respectful, and systematic way, he began to explain the reasons why SC would not file for an extension.

All the reasons were the right reasons, citing loss of privacy, state sovereignty, personal freedoms. Later he enumerated the budget issues.

He repeated himself several times stating we could not participate in the Real ID because we have a LAW against it.

The Governor sounded like Jefferson or Madison when he said, "The greatest security we can have is our Liberties".

10 media outlets were there. Columbia ABC, Upstate Fox and WYFF, ETV, Charleston Post and Courier, Myrtle Beach channel 15, and others I can't remember.

Many media interviews with we activists.

But make no mistake about it, the Governor DID NOT ask for an extension. He said we wanted to be treated just like Montana, New Hampshire, Maine. He was asking for an exemption.

Apparently, the media doesn't know the difference between the words EXEMPTION and exception.

I've asked for a copy of the entire press conference so we can put it up on YouTube for all to see. You will be so grateful for the inspired presentation our Governor gave.

At the end, the Governor thanked us for being there. He acknowledged the sacrifice and courage it took to lobby for this important issue. He was very humble and gracious.

As soon as I get the unedited copy of the press conference, I'll notify you. Again, DO NOT believe he asked for an extension. He specifically said he was not asking for an extension.

Everyone I spoke with after the conference stated it was well worth the trip. Wish you would have been there.

Thanks again for rallying the cause. Your efforts DID pay off.

Langville vs. Garcia-Quintada?

I don't usually like posting unfortunate news, but this is definitely something which needs to be addressed. It seems that the Greenville County Constitution Party has for a third consecutive race ended up in a battle with an at least fair conservative opponent. Only, this time, we are not talking about a Sid Cates who does not take action. We are talking about an outspoken man who has fought on our side as a Reagan/Ron Paul Republican for years: Roan Garcia-Quintada. This is the race for SC Senate District 7.

Of course, neither John Langville (the CP candidate) nor Mr. Roan can be blamed for this occurence. They both filed on the same day (last Saturday). Both probably hoped to avoid such a contest by filing so late. What is clear is that there is a deep lack of communication between those working for continued American liberty.

I believe that one of these two candidates should drop out as soon as possible. We cannot afford to waste time and energy on a race of this nature. If neither candidate drops out, I believe neither of the candidates should be supported. It is much more efficient to work as private citizens at the State House anyway.

Hopefully, reality will be faced and we will have only ONE solid constitutionalist running for this particular seat in November.

YCLA Principles Statement

The following is taken from our new Constitution, which was adopted on March 28th.

3.1 The ultimate principle for the YCLA is that the sixty-six books of the canon of the Bible, as preserved throughout history in the Masoretic Hebrew and Textus Receptus Greek, are to be the sole rule of duty for the individual and for any decisions of our group. We believe that Scripture must be its own final interpreter, according to its literal, historical, and grammatical context. We believe that GOD and His works are never arbitrary, but are always completed according to His revealed will and logical cause-and-effect. Finally, we believe in the fundamentals of the faith and Salvation through the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, as expressed in our Creed (Section 5.2).

3.2 We believe it is our responsibility to “do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with GOD” (Micah 6:8), to “fear GOD and keep His commandments” (Eccl. 12:13), and to love the LORD with all the heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love one’s neighbor as himself (Mark 12:30-31). We believe that exemplifying this spirit of humility and justice is an integral part of true leadership.

3.3 We believe in endeavoring, wherever possible, to practice Spirit-filled, open reasoning and forethought. Included in this conviction is a commitment to always steer away from rock music, TV, and immodesty, rather promoting health and focus.

3.4 We believe in supporting the Constitution of the United States and its representative, republican form of government. We believe in the principle of Lex Rex, that it is not the government which defines the law, but the law which defines the government. We understand the basis of freedom to be not the abolition of government, nor the empowering of the government, but the limiting of the government's jurisdiction to include only moral and rightful powers.

3.5 We believe in opposing the Evolutionary worldview and its socialist tendencies. We hold that true science is not compatible with the naturalistic origins model. Finally, we believe that the best defense for the Bible's validity is Scripture itself, with natural laws as second in importance.

There is a really good article from David Brickner, Jews For Jesus Executive Director (www.jewsforjesus.org), in their April newsletter which came the other day. It is entitled "Coloring Outside the Lines," and addresses the relationship of God's boundaries to freedom and people's lives. It describes the current tendency of much of Christianity to shy away from clear morals, and declares the need for open evangelism and un-abashed promotion of Christ as the Savior from sin. Very, very good!

A More Concise YCLA Flyer

Lord-willing we will have a YCLA table at the Greenville County Constitution Party Convention this Saturday. In view of this, I made some great new half-page flyer things to use instead of the tri-fold brochures, which are much more complicated, and use more printer ink. I wrote the following three points on the front as describing our key issues:

1. Creation — The YCLA proclaims God as the Creator of the universe, and works to support His law and authority.
2. Constitution — The YCLA is committed to the principles of the Founding Fathers and America’s Supreme Law of the Land.
3. Cross — The YCLA evangelizes, and promotes Christ’s spirit and character. Also, we encourage others to take advantage of their liberties, noting that many do not share these privileges. Join us and make an impact today!

Important! REAL-ID must be stopped again

The following is a good and brief summary of what is happening in SC with REAL-ID. We defeated it last year, but we knew it would come back eventually. The Legislature passed a resolution last week stating that Gov. Sanford should request an extension on implementation of the REAL-ID program as soon as possible. This means they are caving in to the pressure. So here we are, and let's get to work! This note was sent out by Dick Armey, former House Majority Leader in Washington, DC.

Dear Friend,

The federal government is trying to bully states into accepting the Real ID Act, which would create a national identity card. So far, Governor Mark Sanford has rightly resisted this federal imposition on South Carolina. Help us show support for Governor Sanford and his resistance to allowing the federal government to centralize a power better left to the states.

TAKE ACTION!

The standardized national driver's licenses created by Real ID would become a key part of a system of identity papers, databases, status and identity checks and access control points that will increasingly be used to track and control our movements and activities. Real ID requires state governments to remake their driver's licenses, restructure many of their computer databases, create an extensive new document-storage system, and verify the "issuance, validity and completeness" of every document presented at DMVs. Because Congress ordered but has not paid for these mandates, which will cost states like South Carolina billions of dollars, fees on individuals applying for driver's licenses will increase. Individuals are also likely to confront slower service, longer lines, and bureaucratic problems trying to get these ID cards.

The Real ID database will inevitably, over time, become the repository for more and more data on individuals, and will be drawn on for an ever-wider set of purposes. Collecting this much information on citizens to be used for potentially a growing number of purposes should give all those who value individual liberty pause.Tell Governor Sanford that he is doing the right thing in resisting the Real ID Act in South Carolina.

Conservative Kids and Communication

A site I found the other day is http://www.conservativekids.net/. They have a lot of good articles and info, which, apart from being somewhat pro-foreign intervention and pro-Huckabee, displayed a high level of historical knowledge and rationality in my opinion. However, I cannot grasp what their intent is with this site. Also, there is no indication of who it is who runs their organization, if they have one. Right now they are featuring an article from a club in a Marion County somewhere for young Republicans. I would like to work with people like these, but all they provide is a little "Contact Us" box and you don't even know who the "us" is. :-o

The best thing to learn in this scenario is what not to do with the YCLA. We must create a sharp, concise, understandable face for ourselves so people will "get" what we are about and want to help us right away. If we don't, of course we will not accomplish much. If we do, who knows how far we will go? So a good motto for the afternoon is: Communicate.

The Ron Paul Campaign: A Half-Full Glass

Analysis of Ron Paul's success or failure all seem to miss the mark. Many critics point to this or that ad or this or that tactic that prevented victory. I think such analysis misses the forest for the trees.I believe that no candidate can win the presidency without the day in and day out constant television coverage. In other words, unless the media grants you first tier coverage, the electorate will not vote for you in significant numbers. A large percentage of voters will not vote for a candidate they don't believe can win and that belief in "winnability" is still entirely controlled by the MSM.

That said, I think we should revel in the extraordinary successes of the campaign.Ron Paul began with nearly zero name recognition and was relegated from the beginning by all MSM media to the second tier. I believe pundits should recognize the great strides in achieving between 5 and 10% of the vote in almost every state and receiving 11% in a Rasmussen poll running as a third party candidate. Not to mention over 20% in several caucus states, including second place in Nevada, Montana, and Louisiana.

Ron Paul's name recognition nationally now likely exceeds 50% of the electorate.
Any analysis must begin by acknowledging that many better-known US Senators and Governors received less of the popular vote. Many such as Biden and Dodd received less than 1% even though they have been staples of the Sunday morning news programs for decades. Not to mention the fact that Ron Paul trounced candidates with far greater name recognition such as Fred Thompson and Rudy Guliani.

I believe Ron Paul gained nearly the maximum possible vote in a Republican Party primary. Polls in NH show that only 6% of Republicans believe in immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Nearly 50% believe in some in-between position or reassessment of war strategy. About 30% believe in "staying the course" no matter what.

In Michigan, 37% of the Republicans expressed displeasure about the Iraq War and the vast majority of these same people voted for McCain. I believe his image as someone who will challenge Bush and the establishment blinded these voters to his public comments on continuing the war for 100 years if necessary. I also believe if the poll questions asked about "immediate withdrawal" that the percentage in the Republican primary is closer to 6% nationally.

After the last NH presidential debate, I turned around to Chris Matthews and tried to get him to host Ron Paul because Fox was excluding us the next night. His eyes glazed over a bit and he thought about Ron Paul and the Iraq war. You could tell by his response. He said, you know, Ronald Reagan probably wouldn't have gotten us into the Iraq War. Trying to be agreeable, I nodded my head. He then followed by adding that if McCain had been president we also probably wouldn't have gone into Iraq.

I shook my head in disbelief and reminded him that the day before McCain had made the comment that he would keep the troops in Iraq for 100 years. Matthews hemmed and hawed and said, "Oh, he's just being a good soldier now."

My take, Matthews and the liberals in the media love McCain so much for his pandering to their global warming agenda that they simply give him a pass on the war.

In the final analysis, I believe about 5-10% of the Republican Party are ready for a non-interventionist foreign policy and Ron Paul got that vote. A significant portion of the electorate heard Ron Paul's chastisement on the huge federal deficits and nodded their heads in agreement. Innumerable Republicans come up to me and love much of the Ron Paul message, but can't quite come to agree with the foreign policy of non-intervention.On foreign policy, at some level, they listened to the message about the erosion of our civil liberties but could not escape the image of helicopters fleeing the embassy in Saigon in 1975. This image still bothers many Republicans and they can't embrace a quick exit from Iraq even if they know in their heart of hearts we need to leave.

My interpretation of the Ron Paul Revolution, though a biased one as the son of the candidate is that we should rejoice in getting 5-10% of the vote given that we got 1/1000th of the media attention and did not get enough attention to enter the realms of winnability in the public's mind.
To me, though, the campaign remains an unqualified success. My prediction for 2008: an utter crushing defeat for Republicans. Not out of anger for Ron Paul's loss, I think he won, but because Republicans are failing on two fronts: not living up to the promises of limited government and balanced budgets and failing to understand how unpopular the Iraq War has become.

One last prediction! We will elect at least one Ron Paul Republican to Congress this year.

New tract strategy

Here is an idea for tracts. As most of us probably know, the traditional routes of spreading the gospel on paper are not only usually ignored by their recipients, they often carry a highly simplistic "plan" of salvation which cannot acheive observable results. Thus, a great solution I have found is to use Chick Tracts, small comic-book style booklets which give the gospel in various story forms. These also emphasize personal transformation and obedience to Jesus as Lord.

So what is the new strategy? The idea I have had is to give these tracts not only to unbelievers, but also to Christians who are excited about serving Christ. They as a rule are immediately interested in them, and I can point to the back where the address is where they can order more. They will then also see YoungChristianLeaders.org printed on the back, your church name, or whatever you choose to put there to identify yourself.

One comment though: if someone seems offended at the prospect of distributing the tracts, don't push it. A lot of people have their own favorite kind of evangelism, and some don't even think about it at all. Just let God lead them. Your simple desire to get out the gospel will have an impact. And above all, don't act superior. Be a friend. That is by far the best way to have influence.

On Sunday, we discussed several strategy issues, including deciding to adopt as our three key points the themes "Creation, Constitution, Cross." We also tentatively decided to launch a fundraiser selling Answers magazines (published by the ministry Answers In Genesis) and use the money to pay for a trip to their Creation Museum later this spring. Finally, we reviewed the ideas of our new, simplified constitution-in-the-making.

It seems to be a lot more powerful than Blogger, and I think it will be able to take over for both the YCLA Journal of Proceedings and the Members' Site, as well as this site perhaps eventually. YCLA site update!

Well, thank God, the YCLA hosting site is accessible once again from my house!

I put a new feature on the home page: "This Week's Activity." The site reports showed the "What's in Progress" page way, way down in visits with hardly anyone looking at it for the most part. This is interesting. So anyway, having more emphasis on action at the home page will likely increase results.

I also changed the "Getting Involved" page to be under "What To Do," changed "LIL Coalition" to be under "Links," and deleted the useless "Constitution" page. Then, I added a place under "About Us" for each of the words in the name, Young Christian Leaders' Alliance. Please check it out!

A final major improvement is creating a "President's Corner" near the middle of the "About Us" page, with a much better picture of myself, and also the web banner for this site. Hopefully I will be able to make this a good area on the site. If you have any ideas for it, let me know.

Our group is not exactly growing, but we are still gaining opportunities and making a difference in an increasing manner. Let's keep praying, and praising God too for all His blessings! :-)

Rating our Representatives

Today I found a list of perhaps more "traditional" conservative Congressional ratings. http://www.acuratings.org/ It is not near as Constitutionally accurate as, for instance, the Freedom Index, nor is it updated as often, but it gives a much better feel for how Congressmen and Senators are perceived by the majority of the right.

It is interesting noting the similarities and differences. The two indexes in some cases have the same approximent placings, just not by the same proportions. For instance, this American Conservative Union (ACU) system places our SC junior Senator, Jim DeMint, at 98.0 overall (first place in the Senate!) while the Freedom Index places him at 90 overall (second place).

A sharp difference may be seen, however, in the treatments of people such as Lindsey "Grahamnesty" Graham, with an ACU rating of 90.6 overall but a Freedom Index rating of 56 overall.

Rep. Bob Inglis has shown a dramatic shift towards constitutional positions after Dr. Cobin ran against him in 2006. He went from around a 30 at election time to an 80 in the latest Freedom Index! However, he will go from an 84 in the ACU ratings to what will presumably be lower when they update it for 2007. This is good though! Keep it up, Mr. Inglis!

If you want to compliment him for the improvement, you can email him at bob@inglisforcongress.com. I would wait until after the next Freedom Index comes out in a month or so though, just to be sure, and so it's not old news (i.e. back from July) :-).

DeMint has done an excellent job too as a Senator, much better than he did as Congressman I believe. He has spearheaded the fight against the Law of the Sea Treaty, and played an important role in defeating the amnesty last year. He has also been a great advocate for free trade and pro-life causes. Kudos to Jim DeMint, too!!!

The one man who made 100% on both rating systems is Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma. Wow. For the overall rating, however, he still ranked lower than DeMint in the ACU.

Today I changed some stuff around again here. This site now has a more patriotic theme. How does it look?

I think it will be a collector's item besides. :-) We need to have it debut at #1 in as many venues as possible; I think it is #3 on Amazon.com right now, so it needs some more purchasers!

Hmmm... oh yes, Mitt Romney endorsed McCain of course. This is not surprising, since Rudy McRomney was the front-runner all along. Ron Paul is the only one who believes in the Constitution.

Are you a "Proservative?"

The modern conservative movement has clearly drifted from the ideas of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. It is now considered "unconservative" or even "liberal" to oppose undeclared wars, foreign aid or encroachments on civil liberties.

We need a new name for Christian political principles. "Constitutionalism" is good, but for many it is a big, vague word. "Libertarian" is also a good concept, but it is already associated with the normally pro-abortion, pro-gay rights Libertarian Party.

Here's an idea: Proservative. This would be a political movement (or almost a third party of sorts) organized out of the Ron Paul platform and its supporters. Its' name was derived from the telescoping of "conservative" with four key principles: Pro-life, Pro-family, Pro-sound money, and Pro-freedom. It is meant to emphasize the positive nature of our message. Incidentally, the name also conveys the servant-oriented spirit of Dr. Paul and all true leaders.

Also on this same theme regarding positiveness, I was thinking about the difference between the Obama campaign and the Paul campaign and Obama's mantra of "change." What America needs is not "change," but hope. Obama and Paul are in a battle for the hearts and minds of American young people, as this article and picture show. Obama thinks we need more gun control and more welfare and a new global UN tax. Ron Paul knows that the only Hope for America is in enforcing the Constitution and protecting our God-given rights. It is an almost quintessential contest of Democracy vs. Republic.

So, join the Republic side! Support Ron Paul, and do not support Barack Obama. I am convinced he is the very worst candidate for President.

In the mean time, how about considering "proservative?" :-) I might set up a poll here on it...

Now Anything Can Happen

Mitt Romney is out of the race for President!!! This interesting and unexpected occurence is being debated everywhere as to whether it benefits the good Dr. Paul or not.

Romney said that one of the reasons he is dropping out is because he did not want to be part of a cause which aims to "surrender to terror." In other words, he is trying to avoid a brokered convention in which Ron Paul would have a shot. (By the way, another of Romney's patent falsehoods is that Ron Paul believes terrorists "don't exist." In actuality, he simply wants to defeat them constitutionally.)

The mainstream media is now trumpeting a McCain-Huckabee ticket. But the other man in the race, our hero, is not done yet.

Here is a scenario, which could be more than likely: First, McCain gains several close victories against Huckabee. Huckabee drops out in early April or so; or perhaps even after Texas in March. Second, there is a two-man race, and attention must turn to Ron Paul. I would not doubt if the media would try to continue the blackout, but people such as Rush Limbaugh, James Dobson, and others who have stated complete mistrust in McCain will no doubt keep their eyes on him. Third, Paul will then win against McCain in some of the last few primaries. This will give him momentum coming into the convention. Finally, many Romney and Huckabee delegates will vote against McCain, thus casting a vote for Ron Paul and sealing him the nomination.

On the other hand, if Huckabee begins to do better, he may not drop out until later and we may see a race split three ways for a while. This case might be all the better. The more delegates Huckabee can win against McCain, the more votes Ron Paul will have when Huck drops out. Of course, Huck will not endorse Ron Paul, but his people are more conservative than he is and I think they will not appreciate a ticket with him as McCain's VP.

Whatever the case, it is IMPERATIVE that Ron Paul win those final few states. It would also be wonderful if he could win Texas. If he has no momentum at the convention, I believe he will be soundly defeated, and this cause will be lost for the present.

There are three things which will benefit us greatly if they were implemented:

1. Hammer down NOW on the issue of illegal immigration. With Romney gone, Ron Paul is the only candidate who has any semblence of strength on border security, ending birthright citizenship, and opposing amnesty. There needs to be an immediate campaign documenting McAmnesty and Huckster's records on this issue.

2. Zone in more than ever on the principle of fiscal conservativism. Emphasize that Huckabee DID NOT believe in Biblical monetary policy before he came up against Ron Paul in the debates. Continue stating that belief in less government is the traditional Republican position.

3. Stop campaigning against Rudy Guiliani. He is out of the race, and has been since at least the middle of January. Do not talk about 9-11, and do not voluntarily bring up the "humble foreign policy" concept to Republican voters, as they have shown that this is not something they currently agree with. Emphasize, instead, Ron Paul's belief in a strong military and personal gun rights.

We must also learn that we cannot count on the official campaign to implement these things. We must do them ourselves. Even so, we should try to contact them and see if they will listen. By now they should be realizing their strength is in the ideas of the grassroots.

Please join me in giving to the Ron Paul campaign, or (perhaps better) to a conservative grassroots program which can gain publicity and propel Dr. Paul and his ideas of republicanism, the Constitution, and unalienable rights from the Creator, to the GOP nomination.

The insiders and Mitt Romney may think they have just pushed Ron Paul out into no-where, but they may have done the best thing for him yet. We can win! Keep up the great work, everyone.

Unity Through Principle

A Plea for Peace, Truth, and Focus Among Christian Activists

Envision the American situation. The Constitution, the pinnacle of centuries of Christian toil and the supreme Law of the United States, is disregarded. It is incessantly steam-rolled under the fancies of political machinery, only to be occasionally picked up and dusted, and its' supposed virtues of democracy and "We The People" lauded and complimented.

There is almost constant taking of life through abortion and the effects of gun laws, millions of children being indoctrinated in Evolution and sinful behavior, and the economy on the verge of collapse due to our system of false weights and measures.

And thousands of activists are ready to work, but nothing happens. Instead, they sit on the sidelines, oohing and ahhing at how big the battle is. Worse, many become restless and take sides on petty issues.

Why?

The truth is, those who love freedom and morality must stand up for principle. There must be a common goal among us.

The Ron Paul campaign is a prime example of how people from every philosophical and doctrinal postition can unite behind one purpose: to restore individual rights as given by the Creator, not the State. The passion to get Ron Paul elected is the kind of passion which needs to be displayed for winning souls to Christ, ending Federal control of education, stopping the national ID card, and every other cause with Biblical foundations.

Another example of successful co-operation and focus is that of two creation science ministries, AiG and ICR. While these organizations are completely separate, they are working together to proclaim the message of God's Creatorship. A nation-wide network is thus now imerging of people who believe in reforming America, and ideas are being ignited and solutions worked out with their basis in a truly Christian worldview.

So, what is to be done? In order to see results, we must first acknowledge that God's Words are the inerrant, preserved, final authority. We must hold to the fundamentals of the faith and the Constitution, not attacking each other on secondary issues. Finally, we must be willing to break with any traditions, churches, or (especially) political parties which are working contrary to these goals.

We must be willing to let God work in us, and we must take action creatively for His principles.

It is then that we will see our freedoms renewed, and our Republic restored.

Envision the American possiblities.

Drink Lemon Juice!

I had been feeling like a piece of fried chicken for some time now, which is one reason I didn't start posting here again sooner. However, yesterday I re-discovered in the fridge some lemon juice I bought a few weeks ago. Wow! A couple swigs of it, and my focus and energy seemed to boost right up! I have been drinking it on and off today and have done much better in my schoolwork, etc.

When I looked at the sidebar of this site here, I couldn't believe how uninteresting it looked. So, I re-did it and I think it turned out better. Please tell me what you think. :-)

Please do also try drinking lemon juice. I recommend buying the "ReaLemon" concentrate brand, but some people like to just squeeze their lemons. If you do that it will be more sour.

I am amazed at how high silver and gold have become. When I bought some silver ounces back about 2003 sometime, they were worth $7.50. Now, they are worth almost $17.00! Please do buy precious metals if you can because I think our time is fairly short for the U.S. economy.

Let us also be remembering to invest in eternal things whenever we can. It is amazing what a little thing can do, like a smile or tract, etc. :-)

Nehemiah 4

But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews. And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned? Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.

Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity: And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders. So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth, And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it. Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them. And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall. And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease. And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you. Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.

And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses. And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.

And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah. They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon. For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.

And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another. In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us. So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.

Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day. So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing.

The First Presidential Blimp?

Just think what could happen with a blimp for Ron Paul...

The Paulite Airship will launch on December 10 from Elizabeth City on the east coast of North Carolina. It will fly over Washington, DC, the various Federal Reserve Branches on its' route, and Wall Street, ending out at Boston for the TeaParty07 on December 16. It will then head over to New Hampshire and move around there for some time. Finally, it will come towards South Carolina in time for the primary on the nineteenth of January. If they have enough money, they will also go to Disney World in Florida. Of course, they could just be propelled and continue on straight through next November touring America depending on how much we do!

This post happens to be the bicentennial one. This means that we have been online at this site a long time now! I am glad God has enabled us to use the Internet to promote His principles, and glorify Him and His work, all over the world. Thanks also to all those who visit this site, and especially to everyone who has commented or given advice to make this site a better place. :-)
